About Well of Dreams

Well of Dreams is an everyday health digest for people who would rather read one careful page than ten alarming ones. We write about the ordinary questions that come up at the kitchen table: whether a number on the scales means much, why sleep falls apart in the small hours, how to calm a racing mind before a meeting, and what to do when a parent who lives far away starts to need more help.

The site is put together by three writers who publish under pen names. None of us holds a medical qualification and we never pretend otherwise. Our job is to read widely, explain plainly and point readers towards a GP, pharmacist, dentist or other professional whenever a question needs someone who can actually examine them.

What we cover

  • Health gathers our broader pieces: oral care after implants, quitting cigarettes, supplements during menopause, honest talk about body image and how clinics share information with patients.
  • Proper Diet stays with the basics of eating well, such as reading the panel on the back of a packet and understanding what BMI can and cannot say.
  • Restful Sleep looks at the bedroom, the evening and the stubborn habit of waking at three in the morning.
  • Stress & Mind offers simple, low-pressure techniques for worry and overthinking, always alongside a note on when to seek support.
  • Caring for Parents is for sons, daughters and other relatives looking after someone older, whether next door or several hours away.

How we write

We start from a question a real reader might type late at night, then work through public health guidance and reputable reference material before drafting anything. We keep numbers out unless they are widely agreed, we avoid dosages entirely and we would rather say "this varies from person to person" than invent certainty. Each article ends with a short section on when to talk to a professional, because that is often the most useful paragraph on the page.

The details of that process live on our standards page. If you are new here, the welcome page for new readers suggests where to begin.

What we are not

Well of Dreams is not a clinic, a helpline or a replacement for an appointment. We cannot answer personal medical questions by email, interpret test results or comment on a prescription. Our medical disclaimer sets this out in full. If something feels urgent, please contact your local emergency number rather than waiting for a reply from us.

Articles from partners

Some articles on the site mention products, services or websites run by other organisations, and a few were first published in cooperation with them. We rewrite every piece in our own voice, keep the tone measured and add the same cautious notes we use everywhere else. A mention here is never a personal recommendation for your situation.

Getting in touch

Corrections, topic ideas and polite disagreements are all welcome. The contact page explains how to reach the three of us and what kind of reply to expect.
